We are learning Japanese culture and Japanese have significant different cultural concepts from Americans, for example, Bushido. However, in "Letters from Iwo Jima' Bushido is contradicted in the specific period of time and historical background. So nowadays, I don't quiet follow Bushido spirit. What make me Japanese? Does celebrating traditional rituals, speaking Japanese, or Japanese citizenship make me Japanese? Nino told us that his father said to him that he was turning to American. What does it really mean? Turning to American???? For the most of my students, what makes you American??? Write the reasons why you think so as well.
